A two-step crackle, Crackle Varnish dries clear, making it ideal for creating a cracked porcelain or aged, crackled-effect over painted, decorative designs especially effective with rice paper designs. Shake both bottles before use. Apply Step 1. When it is totally transparent, it is time for Step 2. Always use a dry brush. Leave for to dry naturally, and watch as the cracks begin to appear. Enhance the cracks by rubbing in artist’s oil paint.

- All surfaces to be applied must be free of dust, dirt, oil and dry.
- It should be applied horizontally with a soft-tipped brush.
- Step 2 is applied after Step 1 is completely transparent.
- It should be left to dry naturally.
- The crack size varies according to the driving thickness.
- Depending on the air temperature, only Step 2 can be applied as a second coat after 3-6 hours.
- Synthetic based wax or oil paint is used to make the cracks visible.
- Not to be used with water-based products and water-based varnish. Spray varnish can be applied, water-based varnish can be applied on the spray if desired.
- Recommended varnish: Yacht varnish or solvent based varnishes.

A two-step water based crackle varnish that dries clear, making it ideal for creating a cracked porcelain or aged, crackled effect over painted decorative designs or plain basecoated surfaces. It is great for acrylic and picture crackling techniques. It is recommended to use the dry brush horizontally for evenly distribution. Apply two coats of basecoat (Step 1) evenly to surface and allow to dry apply one coat of Step 2 evenly. Fine cracks will appear on drying. Enchance the cracks by rubbing in artists oil paint. Wipe off excess oil, allow to dry for 24 hrs seal with solvent based varnish.The product itself is transparent and better for bigger crackles. Non toxic. Certified by EN 71 & CE.
